Katie Li

2017 Betty Lou McCabe Memorial Trophy Winner

The WNJGA’s partnership with the WMGA at The 58th Maureen Orcutt Trophy Tournament and 9-Hole Event proved to be a great success.

The Championship was contested this past Monday and Tuesday, August 14 and 15 at White Beeches Golf & Country Club in Haworth NJ.  Twenty-six girls competed in the 18-hole division; thirteen of which hailed from New Jersey.  A large majority, six of the nine competitors, represented New Jersey in the 9-hole division.

14-year old Eunice Kim of White Beeches Golf & Country Club shot a 75-74 for a 149 (1 over par) 2-day total to earn her the Championship, award her the Maureen Orcutt Trophy and two AJGA stars.

The Betty Lou McCabe Memorial Trophy presented by the WNJGA was awarded to the New Jersey resident with next lowest gross score.  That honor went to Katie Li.  Katie, a 12-year old resident of Basking Ridge, recorded a 2-day score of 152.

The WNJGA is dedicated to promoting the best interest and true spirit of golf through growing the game for junior girls.  We, along with the WMGA are excited to see this event continue to grow in attendance.  Please share this news with any junior girls you know and encourage them to participate next year.

Our sincere thanks to Outreach Committee Co-Chairs Sissy McCabe and Penny Barth as well as our fellow members who volunteered over the 2 days for their commitment of time and energy to this wonderful and worthwhile endeavor.
